B2B fabric purchasing guide / VTEX

Comparing B2B fabric quotations: What matters beyond price per metre?

B2B fabric quotations are meaningful when based on the same requirements sheet. Price per metre is one input; compare specifications, order quantities and included charges as well.

Standardise product codes and specifications

First check which product a quotation covers. Use consistent names, codes, composition, weight, surface and width. Ask for clarification rather than assuming similar trade names mean the same material.

T200 is one unified Microfiber 120gsm line. The three lining fabrics also differ by weight and surface. Keep these distinctions in the comparison sheet.

Compare colour and width before prices

Width options can vary by colour within a range. Poly 120gsm white stripes come in 240/260/280cm, while coloured stripes come only in 240cm. A quotation for coloured stripes at 240cm is not the same specification as white stripes at 280cm.

List each colour, surface and width combination separately. For alternatives, state which criteria can change and which must remain fixed.

Use the same quantities and calculation method

Price per linear metre must be considered with the quoted width and metres. For different widths, ask the workshop to check consumption for the same finished quantities before comparing material costs.

A comparison sheet can include code, specifications, metres, unit price, material cost, quoted taxes or other charges, and notes. Enter only figures received; leave missing information pending clarification.

Clarify what the quotation covers

Check whether quotations cover tax, transport, delivery location, validity and payment terms. Discuss these for each request; do not assume they are included or identical across suppliers.

If you need samples before deciding, request them separately and ask about arrangements. A material quotation does not automatically confirm all order terms.

Keep a record of the selected option

Keep the requirements and quotation linked to the correct code, colour, width and quantity. If anything changes, request an update so all parties use the same option.

VTEX customers can select multiple products in one request. Complete specifications make the initial discussion more specific.
