Fabric for homestays: Balancing design, specifications and budget

Choosing fabric for a homestay starts with the bedding you need and how you organise purchasing. Clear dimensions, colours and quantities let you discuss production with your sewing workshop and compare quotations on the same basis.

List requirements by room type

List single-bed rooms, twin rooms and other bed types separately. For each, list the sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases needed with finished dimensions. Different mattresses or duvet inserts should not share one specification by default.

When using a sewing workshop, agree cutting-piece dimensions before deciding fabric metres. Room count alone cannot establish the exact quantity to buy.

Compare the specifications of each product

VTEX offers Cotton, CVC and Microfiber. T200 is the unified name for the Microfiber 120gsm range; use T200 in requests. Check each product's composition, weight, surface and widths.

Budget matters, but a material name alone does not establish cost or quality. Submit the same requirements sheet to discuss material options for each product.

Confirm white plain, white striped or coloured options

Select the surface to suit the room design and the coordination of sheets, duvet covers and pillowcases. For future replenishment, retain the product code, colour, surface and selected sample for comparison.

In the Poly 120gsm plain/striped, white stripes are available in 240/260/280cm; coloured stripes are available only in 240cm. Select the colour before confirming the width and cutting requirements.

Compare budgets for the finished-product options

Ask the workshop to calculate fabric requirements for each width before comparing material costs. List sewing, accessories, transport and tax separately where quoted; do not assume they are included in the fabric price.

Before ordering, prepare a sheet with code, surface, colour, width and estimated metres. Include finished-set quantities and required dates so everyone works from the same information.

Submit one request for the options you want to compare

The VTEX website lets you add several fabrics to one request and enter contact details once. Select the relevant specifications, describe your homestay requirements and submit for discussion. A request is not an order confirmation.
