Identify it by name, GSM and surface

Published specifications are 100% Microfiber, 70gsm, 240cm width, white colour and a plain surface. Use the full name “white plain 70gsm lining” in the material requirement rather than shortening it to “white fabric” or “70gsm”.

Weight describes mass per area, not thickness in millimetres. The 70gsm value alone does not establish tensile performance, shrinkage or the suitability of a finished construction.

Three specialist applications of 70gsm lining

White plain 70gsm fabric is used for mattress protectors, pillow inserts and stuffed toys. For each application, provide component dimensions, finished quantities and processing requirements to establish the linear metres needed.

For mattress protectors, distinguish lining fabric from a material with a waterproof layer. White plain 70gsm lining should not be described as TPU waterproof fabric. If the construction requires a waterproof layer, specify that need separately to select the right product.

For pillow inserts and stuffed toys, describe the casing component and intended finished product. Requirements for filling retention, seams or finished-product safety should be assessed against an actual sample and construction, rather than inferred from GSM alone.

Prepare metre quantities for 240cm width

Calculate requirements from cutting details and finished quantities, then add the workshop’s chosen allowance. The 240cm width must be included in the calculation; a consumption figure for another width should not be applied unchanged.

If the order includes both face fabric and lining, allocate metres to each product code. Total material consumption for a finished item does not mean that every fabric should be ordered in the same quantity.
